Citizens Advice Good or Bad
What Does the Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) Do?
The Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB) in the UK play a vital role in providing advice and support to individuals facing a wide range of issues. Whether you’re dealing with problems related to debt, housing, employment, or consumer rights, the CAB can offer tailored guidance to help you navigate your situation. Their advisors are trained to listen carefully to your concerns and provide information and support that is both accurate and up-to-date. Additionally, the CAB works to influence policy at both the local and national levels, advocating for changes that will benefit people in need. With their extensive knowledge and experience, the Citizens Advice Bureaux are an invaluable resource for anyone seeking help and advice in the UK.
Visit the CAB for Debt Advice
In some of my posts I would often say something like; if you are looking for free and impartial advice, pop over to the CAB and get some debt advice from them. I have to now wonder if I should at all be telling people to do that?
Citizens Advice Bad Reviews on Trustpilot
Whilst doing some research the other day on debt companies and their reviews on Trustpilot, I thought I would have a look and see what the CAB reviews were like on Trustpilot.
The above photo is just a quick snapshot of their reviews ratings. 5 Star reviews are what a company is really aiming to achieve. You will often find that most companies have a lot of 5 Star rating and often only a few 1 Star ratings. However, when it came to CAB, they had 79% 1 Star rating. As you scroll through the comments, there seems to be a lot of unhappy people, who were not at all happy with the service that they got from the CAB.
Where to Get Free Independent Debt Advice
Finding out what people think of the CAB is rather worrying, so where do you go for free independent debt advice? Initially, most companies seem to offer “free debt advice”, but after that free consultation, I am worried that you will be shoehorned into what is most profitable for that company.
Perhaps the CAB are just overloaded with people wanting help? Read through the comments that people have left on Trustpilot and decide for yourself you should contact the CAB. Maybe contacting the CAB and listening to what they do have to say, then compare their advice with other companies/people you have spoken to? If you find that the pressure from creditors is becoming unbearable, maybe consider a Debt Management Plan (DMP) to start with. For many people a DMP is not a solution, but the advantage is that it does not take long to get into a DMP, the pressure from creditors reduces, as they are aware of your situation and getting reduced monthly payment. This also buys you more time to think and see if there is a better solution out there for you!
Beware of Snake Oil Salesmen Offering Debt Solutions
There are many snake oil salesmen out there offering to write off your debt, just don’t get caught out You may not think it, but you could be worth a lot of money to some of those salesmen! Their solution may also take a lot longer than you think, cost you far more than you actually thought. For further reading to understand what your debt is worth to others, you may want to have a look at the Useful Information Tab, don’t just skim through it, read it all and take in what John is saying!
Conclusion
Perhaps as an organisation the CAB are good, as they offer free advice, this may cause them to be overloaded and struggling to cope with the volume of people wanting to use their service? Must Read Information About Debt
